國際創作者 深沢尚宏:古典日本繪畫結合視覺藝術,展現角色的當代精神;
This exhibition, titled “Hello Kitty: From A to Anywhere,” focuses on the globally beloved character Hello Kitty, reinterpreting this companion to generations through fresh artistic perspectives and design language. Supervised by Sanrio Co., Ltd. of Japan and co-created by multiple Hong Kong and international artists and designers, the exhibition brings Hello Kitty’s classic image into cross-media artistic settings, presenting a visual feast filled with imagination and creativity.
The exhibition theme “From A to Anywhere” symbolizes Hello Kitty’s continuously expanding worldview and creativity since her birth—from her debut in 1974 to the present, she has become not only a symbol of cuteness but also a medium for cultural exchange, artistic inspiration, and personal emotion. Through interpretations by different artists, Hello Kitty’s image breaks free from the framework of traditional commercial characters, becoming a bridge connecting people, emotions, and memories.
A major feature of the exhibition is multimedia and cross-disciplinary collaboration. The exhibition space showcases diverse creations including graphic illustrations, three-dimensional sculptures, installation art, and interactive projections, allowing visitors to enter an immersive Kitty universe. Whether retro-styled classic looks or futuristic new interpretations, each work demonstrates the artist’s personal understanding and innovative imagination of Hello Kitty’s character spirit.
Beyond the artworks, the exhibition also presents Hello Kitty’s historical trajectory, allowing visitors to gain deeper understanding of how this character evolved from a cat girl with a red bow into a global cultural icon. The exhibition also emphasizes inclusivity and imagination, inviting each visitor to reconnect with their emotional experiences with Hello Kitty from their own perspective.
This celebration also features the “Every flower tells a story” art exhibition, where various renowned artists and organizations collaborate to create a floral world of Hello Kitty, showcasing her versatile and diverse charm. Among them, William Chan Design collaborates with Bull & Stein to create unique, European-manufactured collectible Hello Kitty art sculptures. Bull & Stein has long enjoyed prestige in the global art market for its distinctive design and exquisite craftsmanship. The collaborative sculptures capture Hello Kitty’s classic image and her iconic apple on her head. Each piece is handcrafted by top European artisans and colored with Swiss patented paints. This exhibition launches a set of 10 colors, approximately 33 cm tall art sculptures, including gold and silver special editions. Each design is limited to 20 pieces, making them both collectible and able to showcase Hello Kitty’s incomparable adorable charm—absolutely worth treasuring and commemorating!
Hello Kitty was created by Sanrio in 1974, originally drawn by designer Yuko Shimizu, and subsequently developed by Yuko Yamaguchi as the main illustrator, evolving into the widely known cute image and story background. As a pioneer in character creation and brand management, Sanrio has long upheld the philosophy of “Small Gift, Big Smile,” dedicated to conveying warmth and happiness through characters.
This exhibition invited multiple artists to participate in creation, including:
Hello Kitty collaborates with William Chan Design and Germany’s Bull & Stein to create limited edition art sculptures
International creator Naohiro Fukazawa: combining classical Japanese painting with visual art to showcase the character’s contemporary spirit;
Through the interweaving of these creative forces, the exhibition is not only a tribute to Hello Kitty but also a journey exploring personal memories and collective culture.
